Heaven in a Single Serving Cholocate Cake

April 27th, 2012 | Posted by Amy in Feel Good Sweet Treats

After a long week of work and some chilly weather I just wanted to have a cozy night in. I was in the mood and craving something chocolatey and warm.

I opened up my cupboard to see the new jar of Baking Cocoa Powder and thought, “I should use this to whip something up.”

But what to make? I googled, “single serving chocolate cake recipe.” The first result on google showed a 90 second single serving chocolate cake in a mug!

Heck Yes!!! Simple ingredients, no baking and easy clean up, of course I had to try this cake recipe! I tweaked the recipe a little, lessening the amount of sugar and substituting the oil with apple sauce.

It was the perfect treat to start my weekend.

You will need:

  1. A Mug or Coffee Cup
  2. A Microwave
  3. A Spoon or Fork

Ingredients:

  1. 2 TBS Flour
  2. 2 TBS Sugar
  3. 2 TBS Cocoa Powder
  4. 1 Egg
  5. 2 TBS Apple Sauce
  6. A Handful of Chocolate Chips
  7. A Splash of Vanilla Extract

In a mug or coffee cup mix together the Flour, Sugar and Cocoa Powder. Then add the egg, apple sauce and vanilla. Mix all those ingredients well and finish by adding the chocolate chips.

Once everything is mixed together place in the microwave (not the oven) for 90 seconds. Do not over cook.

The cake chocolate cake will look very gooey but that is just because the chocolate chips melted.

The texture of the cake is very moist and spongy and has a rich milk chocolate flavor that is so delicious! The taste reminded me of a molten chocolate lava cake. I will definitely be making this recipe again. Next time I might try adding some walnuts and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side!

Yum-O!
